We are happy to announce that we have created three new simulation environments for the Gazebo 3D robot simulator. Each world is equipped with a set of prefabricated terrain, including buildings and fences, allowing users to program and test Jackal UGV, Husky UGV, Warthog UGV or Ridgeback. These new worlds include:


· Agriculture World-Outdoor driving challenges on farms and solar farms


· Industrial inspection world-oil and gas, mining and civil engineering infrastructure for continuous inspection tasks


·  Interior structure world-construction sites including completed and under construction office buildings


The biggest advantage of using a simulated environment is that the control scheme and sensor processing on the simulated robot are the same as the actual robot, which means that any program running on the robot can also be run on the simulator, and vice versa. These simulations are all free to download and can be found here.


 


Outdoor farming world simulation

Supported platforms:Jackal,Husky,Warthog 

For Gazebo, this is an open large outdoor world with a barn, a field and a solar panel. This simulation is designed to help researchers develop autonomous solutions for "area coverage" and navigating between structures and projects (such as solar panels and crops). Mainly use GPS/GNSS or 2D LiDAR sensor system to test autonomy.

Industrial inspection world simulation

Supported platforms:Jackal,Husky,Warthog 

The simulation world is an open large-scale outdoor industrial environment designed to provide users with a single world that contains elements and assets of the oil and gas, mining, civil engineering, and energy industries. Assets include: solar panels, bridges, pipelines (oil or gas) and micro mines. This world is very suitable for testing autonomy using GPS/GNSS and/or remote operation with 3D LiDAR sensor system.

Indoor structure world simulation

Supported platforms:Jackal,Husky,Ridgeback

This simulation aims to provide users with a single world containing elements and assets from indoor navigation challenges, such as office environments and construction sites. Assets include walls, windows, rooms, tables, chairs, doorways, sandbags, rubble, wooden frames, etc. This world is very suitable for testing 2D or 2.5D automatic performance using lidar and depth sensors and/or indoor telemetry.
